At the end of the 19th and during the first decade of the 20th century Pirot kilims served as unavoidable decor in public buildings and in important public manifestations. An official wedding photo of King Alexander Obrenović of Serbia and Queen Draga, shows a royal couple standing on the Pirot kilims, used as floor coverings in this solemn occasion as distinguished national products. The official photograph, taken on 4 August 1900 by the court photographer Milan Jovanović, was issued on a poster by the bookstore of Sreten J. Djordjević and printed by the State Printing House of the Kingdom of Serbia.
