A wall kilim (zidnjak) is decorated with Serbian crown (Srpska kruna) motif. In the centre of the kilim is the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia. The surface around the coat of arms is filled with ornament called bibice, and the corners with devil’s knee (vraško koleno) ornament. Along the upper border is woven the year 1899, when the kilim was made. The colours used are: red, white, black, blue and green. The Serbian crown motif appeared in Pirot kilim production together with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Serbia in 1882. The motif transformed together with the state and forms of government so after 1918 there were also Pirot kilims with the motif of Yugoslav crown and after 1945 with the coat of arms of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia. In the contemporary era logos of different institutions and companies also found their place on Pirot kilims and doilies.
